All of us waiting for rainy season, it gives new energy. It is season of love, children plays alot in rain. But health issues also comes along with it.
We will discuss here, what problems may occur & what we have to do to prevent it. In monsoon below problems may occur
MOSQUITO BORNE DISEASE IN MONSOON
Once mosquito lay eggs, it need watery surface for hatching eggs. When rain falls, it gives comfortable environment for growth. From egg » larva » pupa » adult mosquito. This way mosquito attacks in rainy season & produces below disease
Malaria



It is caused by female anopheles mosquito. Symptoms of malaria are
- Fever with severe chill
- Headache
- Body ache
- Nausea, vomiting
Dengue



It is caused by day bitting, aedes aegypti mosquito.
Aedes aegypti mosquito generally lay eggs in clean water like in tyre, cooler, tree pot, etc. Symptoms of dengue are as below
- High grade fever
- Headache
- Body ache
- Nausea, vomiting
- Rashes
Chickungunya
It is caused by aedes aegypti and aedes albopictus mosquito.Symptoms of chickungunya are as below
- Fever
- Body stiffness
- Joint pain
- Rashes
Prevention of mosquito borne disease
- Mosquito growth occur in both dirty and clean water. So, maintain cleanliness around and in our house & office is first most thing to avoid this kind of disease.
- Wear full body clothes ( full sleeve shirt, socks) will be helpful for prevention of mosquito borne disease.
- Mosquito net in window, will reduce entry from outside.
- Kill mosquitos by using spray, liquid or by other method

WATER AND FOOD BORNE DISEASE IN MONSOON
In rainy season, there is high chances of disease by contaminated water and food.
Typhoid
It is caused by salmonella typhi bacteria. Which spread by infected food and water.
It spread through faecal oral route means if anyone have typhoid disease and after going toilet he does not clean his hand properly and touch some food or water than that material is infected by salmonella bacteria.
If somebody drink that water or eat that infected food than he/she will also suffer from typhoid disease. Symptoms of typhoid are as below.
- High grade fever
- Headache
- Body ache
- Diarrhoea or vomiting
- Rashes
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis A is caused by hepatitis A virus (HAV). It is also spread by infected food & water. It spread by faecal oral route as mention in typhoid.
Hepat = Liver
Itis. = Inflammation
It means that hepatitis is the inflammation of liver. It is that kind of disease in which some have symptoms & some patient may not have any symptoms. If symptoms arises that are as mention below.
- Loss of appetite
- Nausea or vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Fever
- Jaundice
- Dark urine
- Yellowish sclera and skin
Cholera
It is caused by vibrio cholerae bacteria. It spread by infected food or water which is contaminated with human feces containing the bacteria. Symptoms of cholera are
- Severe watery diarrhoea
- Vomiting of clear fluid
Due to fluid loss there is dehydration and electrolytes imbalance. Patient have to take treatment immediately otherwise condition will be worsen.
Prevention of water and food borne disease
- Drink boiled & clean water. If we are going to outside than should take boiled water along with us.
- Fruits and vegetables should washed throughly. At home food must not be open.
- Avoid food of outside. If we take than it must be hygenic place.
- Wash hand frequently. After going toilet and before taking any food hand must be washed properly. This points will prevent food and water borne disease. Go To List
AIR BORNE DISEASE IN MONSOON
Due to seasonal changes, temperature variation, humid weather there is chances of viral infections in monsoon.
Common cold



Common cold is highly contagious. It spread by physical contact and by infected person’s Respiratory droplets through air.
It is simple cold which will not create any serious problem.
- Fever
- Running nose
- Sneezing
- Sore throat

Flu
It is highly contagious. Spread from infected person to healthy person speedily. It spread by physical contact and by Respiratory droplets through air. It is severe than common cold and needs proper treatment.
- High grade fever
- Headache
- Body ache
- Cough – coryza
If untreated than it may cause pneumonia and bacterial infection.
Prevention from air borne disease
- Avoid unnecessary contact with those have cold-coryza
- Wear mask whenever you go outside. Especially for old age whenever they are going to clinics for general check up for diabetes or blood pressure, they should wear mask.
- Cover your face while sneezing or coughing to prevent infection to others. It is good habit, everyone should follow it.
- Wash your hand frequently. Sanitise your hand frequently especially before taking food or touching your nose, mouth.
- Drink plenty of luke warm water.
SKIN PROBLEMS IN MONSOON
Due to humid weather & more perspiration there are chances of fungal & bacterial infections in rainy reason.
Tinea pedis
If your sole continuous remains in contact of water or perspiration, there is chances of fungal infection of feet.



Ringworm



Rignworm is fungal infection of skin. It is highly contagious, it spread from infected person to others very speedily. It spread by physical contact as well as by touching contaminated surface.
If it is not treated timely than it may spread to other family members. Itching all the time makes the person disturbed.
Prevention of skin disease in monsoon
- Keep your skin clean & dry.
- Wear dry clothes all the time. If it gets wet than change it.
- Use separate towel for every family member.
- In rainy season, if you walk bare feet in water than you must dry it as early. If it remains wet than it may create fungal infection. Go To List
