INDICATION OF DOXYCYCLINE

DOSAGE OF DOXYCYCLINE
Adult
100mg once or twice in a day as per disease condition.
Children
5mg/kg/day in two divided doses
Effect of medicine starts within 4-6 hours after taking it & effect last in body for approx 24hours.

Pregnancy
Doxycycline or other tetracycline may cause Discoloration the teeth of the developing fetus. So, this medicine should be avoid in pregnancy.
Use cautiously in liver disease
Not recommended under 12 years of age
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Doxycycline, like other tetracycline antibiotics, is bacteriostatic. It means it work by preventing bacteria from reproducing through the inhibition of protein synthesis.
